O/S Operating SystemTim BiskupOctober 11th - November 16th 2008Opening Saturday October 11th 2008 - 18:00 à 21:00 Among the surprises of its new program, Addict Galerie supports for an exceptional exhibition, the American artist Tim Biskup, who is presents all around the world in galleries and museums, from Los Angeles to Tokyo, as in Jonathan Levine gallery in New-York. O/S Operating System will show us his latest works which mark a change of direction in his ever-changing art. Without following the art world, Tim Biskup accepts his place of Pop Surrealism's leader with some artists like Mark Ryden or Erik White. Sensitive and complex, as his painting, Tim Biskup breaks the silence with his book "The artist in you" in which he wonders about the artist's status and his connection with the art world. He tells us "Fuck your art intelligencia". The lamb, schizophrenic, proved to be a wolf with sharp fangs. Concerning his painting, it's the same symptom. At the extreme limit of illustration, it seems to be attractive but it is full of metaphors. In his work, which is more and more pessimistic, he wonders about post-modernism, society, politic. His "systems" illustrate the artist's idea concerning the world around him and especially the art world. For the first time of his career, he tries to put the conceptual content before the aesthetic signifiance, he worries about it: "Is it an evidence of his creative genius in his artistic approach or a mark of corruption?" By being on a knife-edge, this protean artist deceives the art object itself. According to him (if everyone is art), everything could be art. In addition to his paintings, his pedestals sculpt themselves and the boxes are part of the exhibition space. So, Addict Galerie invites you to discover the almost analytical painting of this artist who acts in the perpetual conflict which objects to himself. Exceptionally, on the occasion of the exhibition, we will sell some silk-screens in limited edition. |
